On Tuesday June 11, Burzenski & Company hosted a picnic for veterans at Harkness House in New Haven. The staff cooked burgers, hot dogs and sausages and brought salad, picnic fixins’ and of course dessert. Burzenski employee Mary Murphy coordinated the event, Megan Hannon made the dessert and the staff who took command of the grill and were on hand that evening to enjoy time with the veterans included: Jill Cerravone, Dominic Musto, Jared Poltrack, Linda Colafati, Eugenia Borta and Mary Murphy. It was a huge success and the veterans were most grateful not only for the home cooked meal but for the conversations with staff.
Harkness House, a program of Columbus House, provides housing and support for 14 homeless male veterans, connecting them to services, expanding their social and employment skills, and encouraging reconnection to their communities.
