Get To Know Gary & Monica


Gary I. Glassman, CPA, has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant since 1976. In 1988, he became a partner of Burzenski & Company, P.C.

Mr. Glassman focuses on the field of veterinary practice management, and specializes in financial management and tax planning for veterinary practices and their owners. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the areas of practice valuation, related practice sale, merger and acquisition activity, structuring buy/sell agreements as well as hospital expansion and financing.

A graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Mr. Glassman is a regular instructor at the Veterinary Management Consultation, Inc. School for Veterinary Practice Management. He regularly speaks at national veterinary conferences on financial and tax topics including, “Tax Tips for the Practice Owner” and “Financial Reporting to Improve Practice Results.” He is frequently quoted in national veterinary publications. He is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, American Animal Hospital Association and National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts. He is a charter member of VetPartners,™ a national organization of veterinary advisors and consultants. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.


Monica Dixon Perry, CVPM, is the Director of Veterinary Consulting Services at Burzenski & Company. Monica has been involved in the field of veterinary medicine for more than 35 years. During her illustrious career, Monica has lectured at numerous national veterinary conferences and veterinary schools in the United States. She has also been a part-time university lecturer at North Carolina State University in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics where she taught Veterinary Practice Management on the undergraduate level.

Monica is an active member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association and VetPartners. She is the Youth Director at her church and sits on the board of Casa Esperanza Montessori Charter School in Raleigh, NC. Monica is the 2022 VMX Veterinary Meeting and Expo Practice Management Speaker of the Year. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Monica has been a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) for more than 20 years. She is a strong advocate for other veterinary practice managers to pursue this designation.

On Thursday, August 29th, we held our annual state-of-the-firm and company picnic at Owenego Inn located in Branford, CT. The firm recognized the 40th employee anniversary of Partner Melody Mann Fox, CPA. Managing Partner Bill Kalinowski congratulated Melody on her tenure and accomplishments with the firm. Said Ralph L. Ricciardelli, CPA, Emeritus, a founding partner of Burzenski & Company, PC, “Mel, 40 years where does the time go? It’s not easy to build a firm and you’ve done it with a lot of grit, expertise, and professionalism. You have been integral in building the firm. You’ve been integral in helping with the staff, whether it was the administrative staff or the accounting staff. I don’t know what we would do without you. There aren’t enough words of appreciation that we can give to you.” It was a great day for employeea to play games such as bocce, corn hole, Jenga, and a trivia contest with staff split up into teams.

Sarah Williams, formerly of Abilene, TX, has joined the staff at Burzenski & Company, as a Staff Accountant. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree as well as a Master of Accountancy degree from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. Prior to joining our firm, she was as a Tax Associate. She has two cats named Fig and Peach.
