This year, we will continue our holiday Giving Tree tradition, which we began last year as part of our firm’s 35th-anniversary celebration. But we are doing things a little bit differently this year. We are really excited about a new twist for our holiday Giving Tree. We've adopted a family for the holidays. The family includes a medically retired veteran, his wife, and their three children ranging in age from 8 months to 8 years. They also have a six-year-old dog.
Our Giving Tree is a great way to pay back someone who has served our country, bring happiness to this family, put smiles on the faces of the children, maybe get a few extra tail wags from their dog, and in the process, perhaps get that personal sense of accomplishment that comes from doing what we do best at Burzenski & Company: offering our kindness, compassion and of course, generosity to those less fortunate.
Our festive Giving Tree will include 35 tags with the requested gifts from our adopted family. Employees who would like to purchase a gift for one of these individuals will select a tag, purchase the gift, and place the unwrapped gift in the box near the tree by Wednesday, December 16.
Additionally, Burzenski & Company has purchased a dozen large Sherpa blankets for the Adopt a Resident program at Branford Hills Health Care Center . We will be giving dropping off these incredibly comfy gifts in the next week along with decks of playing cards.
